A Sugar Rush Splatter

Hello Lacquer Lovers! Today's post features what was probably Walgreens' most anticipated collection for Spring. The Sugar Rush Collection by Sinful Colors contains 7 new pastel shades and 1 preexisting shade that are sure to send you on an eye candy high.

L-R Unicorn, Orange Cream, Cotton Candy, Sugar N Spice, Sweet Tooth, Candy Coated, Sugar Rush, Sweet Nothing

My mani began with a base of Essie Feed Me followed by two coats of Sinful Colors Snow Me White. I used Unicorn, Cotton Candy, Sweet Tooth & Sugar Rush for the splatter. This look is achieved by dipping the end of a straw into a puddle of polish and blowing short quick puffs of air into the other end. HK Girl topcoat completed my manicure.

I really love how fun and easy these splatters are. The end results are always unique, too!

Above is a photo of a manicure using some of the Sugar Rush polishes. I applied 2 coats of Snow Me White and used a makeup sponge to create this gorgeous gradient with Cotton Candy, Sweet Tooth & Sugar Rush. The candies were stamped using my Konad Special white polish & a Bundle Monster image plate (BM306). The gradient for this mani made it so hard not to stare at my nails all day, I loved it!

So Lacquer Luvers, do you have the Sugar Rush Collection? Which are your favorite colors? Both of these manicures were really fun and I'm excited to hear what you all think of them! As always, I hope you all liked this post my dear Lacquer Luvers and I look forward to sharing my next post with you, xo!

Splattered Gradient

Hello Lacquer Luvers! I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! Mine was spent getting things ready for the arrival of Gabrielle. I cannot believe how fast time is flying and that we will have a beautiful baby girl in our home in about 6 weeks. I am so excited! Today I have a manicure to share with you all that features my all-time favorite color combination; pink, black an white. I love how it came out so let's get to it.

For this manicure I began with a base of Milani Smoothe Base Coat followed by two coats of KleanColor White. I applied two coats of Sinful Colors Pink to my ring and index fingers. Starting with a white base really makes a neon pop. This pink is so much brighter in person.

I used a makeup sponge and created gradients on my nails. On the nails that were white I used pink beginning at the tips of my nails and on the nails painted pink I used white at the tips. I repeated this process numerous times (about 3 or 4) to make the colors pop and become opaque. Next I used a straw and WetNWild Fast Dry polish in Everybody Hates Chris for the splatter. I used a straw from Miami Subs which is wider than the one I usually use from Dunkin Donuts. I think the width of the straw you use creates a different type of splatter which is pretty cool. This manicure was topped with a coat of top coat by Color Club.

If you haven't noticed, neons have been my thing this summer. I have always loved bright colors and playing with them in the middle of the summer is so much fun! I really like this color combination and the gradient that's under the splatter, too! I would love to know your thoughts on this manicure. As always, I hope you all liked this post my dear Lacquer Luvers and I look forward to sharing my next post with you, xo!

Splattered Pink Wednesday

Hello Lacquer Luvers! Today I have a pretty neat splatter to share with you all. This one is a drug-store splatter. Well, at least for me it is. I picked up a couple of the Spoiled polishes a while ago when they were on sale for $0.99 at CVS. I know that Bettina isn't a drug-store brand for most of you but here in Miami you can find it in some Walgreens and also a pharmacy called Navarro.

I began with a base of Essie Grow Faster followed by two coats of Tip Your Waitress. This is a neon pink polish, although in my pics it doesn't show how bright it really is. I LOVE this color! It's gorgeous and doesn't dry incredibly matte like most neons. The formula for this baby is perfection. I've heard horror stories about the brushes on these polishes. Mine are all fine. I actually quite like how wide they are, too. It makes application a breeze for me.

Once Tip Your Waitress dried (which was really fast, by the way) I began to splatter. I use small red straws from Dunkin Donuts for this but I'm sure just about any straw will do. To achieve this look, simply drop a few drops of polish onto paper and dip the end of the straw into it. On the undipped end of the straw blow short quick puffs of air which will blow the polish out and on to your nail. The colors I used were: Spoiled Kickin' The Habit (purple) & Bettina's Matte (white) & Aqua (blue).

I use the same straw during this entire manicure. I just snip the end off with a pair of scissors after each color I use. To finish this mani, I used one coat of Color Club's top coat.

I believe this is the third splatter mani I have showed you guys. I hope you aren't getting tired of them because I really do love doing it. They are so much fun and very easy to do. I love working with bright colors and this season I plan on doing a few more of these. As always, I hope you all liked this post my dear Lacquer Luvers and I look forward to sharing my next post with you, xo!

Retro 80's Neon Splatter!!

Hello Lacquer Luvers! Today I have a pretty cool post to share with you. Lately I have been seeing neon colors everywhere. Shoes, handbags, shirts, you name it! Everytime I see these bright colors it reminds me of my childhood for some reason. I'm an 80's baby. You know, that time period where everything rocked! =) I always think of seeing bright neon legwarmers and wayfarer glasses and it just puts me in a happy place. Well today, I'm taking it back with a retro-80's inspired manicure.

First, I would like to point out that these pictures do not do the colors of this manicure any justice. They are so much more vibrant than what my camera could pick up. Anywho, my mani began with a base of Essie Grow Faster. I then used 2 coats of Bettina Matte nail polish. Using a white base really makes any neon polish pop.

Next I applied two coats of China Glaze Celtic Sun. This polish is literally like a yellow highlighter marker. Super bright and in your face.

Once that dried, I began to use the splatter technique using a straw. I poured small amounts of polish onto the back of an old magazine (I wouldn't use paper for this as it would just soak up the polish; the shiny surface of the magazine doesn't do that). The polish colors I used for my splatter are China Glaze Pool Party (neon pink), KleanColor Neon Orange (name says it all) & Bettina Matte (white). I dipped the end of the straw into the polish and blew short quick puffs into the opposite end of the straw which then splatters the polish onto your nails. I topped this manicure off with a coat of Color Club top coat.

L-R: Bettina Matte, CG Celtic Sun, CG Pool Party, KleanColor Neon Orange

I got so many compliments on this mani while I was at the Dr.'s office yesterday. My nurse asked me if they were nail stickers and was really surprised when I told her it was all nail polish and that I always do my own nails. I think this is such a fun technique and can be done with a variety of different color combinations. This would definitely be awesome to rock if you were planning to dress up like someone from the 80s for Halloween or just a very fun look for a day at the beach. I would love to know what you think of this manicure so please leave a comment below. As always, I hope you all liked this post my dear Lacquer Luvers and I look forward to sharing my next post with you, xo!

Fun Friday Splatter Mani

Hello Lacquer Luvers! It's the end of the week and I have a fun Friday manicure to share with you all. I was inspired by Ms. Jodi over at Captivating Claws to do this mani today. Jodi posted An Electropop Splatter manicure on her blog & I could not stop thinking about how fun it looked and how I really wanted to have this on my nails! I do not have the Electropop Collection by China Glaze, however, I have some pretty awesome Bettina's that I thought I could do this with. For my splatter mani, I used the following colors by Bettina: Matte, Yellow, Sherbet, Pink Bikini, Green Apple, Peppermint, & Secret Garden (see photo below).

I began this manicure with a base of Essie Grow Faster. Next, I applied two coats of Matte. Matte is a white cream polish that is just so perfect. I love this polish because white polishes tend to be streaky, uneven, and thick. This one, however, is totally opposite of that. The formula is amazing!

Once the two coats of Matte dried, I began splattering. To achieve this look, you will need some straws. I used 2 straws that I got from Dunkin' Donuts and cut them into three pieces each so that I could have six short straws (1 for each color that I splattered). On a piece of glossy paper, I dropped a few drops of Secret Garden. I dipped the end of the straw in the polish and blew short strong puffs into the opposite end of the straw to push the polish out and onto my nails. Once you have your first color down, you just rotate the straws and the polishes until you have each color on all of your nails.

Ooooh, pretty colors!

How fun does that look?! I LOVE this so much! It looks like someone dropped buckets of paint onto my nails. What do you all think of this mani? Is this something you would wear? I had so much fun recreating Jodi's manicure. Make sure you all go have a look & follow her blog, Captivating Claws, as I am sure you all will love it just as much as I do! There are a few great tutorials on YouTube, also, that show you how to do this (just type in splatter mani). As always, I hope you all liked this post my dear Lacquer Luvers and I look forward to sharing my next post with you, xo!
