31DC2013 Day 4 - Green Nails

Hello Lacquer Luvers! It's Day 4 of the 31 Day Challenge and today I get to share my green manicure with you guys. If you've been following me for a while you know that green is one of my favorite colors so I was really excited for day 4. I also was excited to knock out some of my untrieds with this one. 

My mani began with a base of Essie Feed Me followed by 3 coats of Sally Hansen Ivy League. I've had this polish in my stash for about two years now *hangs head in shame* and have never used it. I didn't have any application issues with this polish but it was a bit on the thin side which is why I used 3 coats. It also had a few brushstrokes but that just made it perfect for nail art.

Picking up another untried, I used Sinful Colors Call You Later to create a glitter gradient. I stamped Cheeky CH7 on my accent nail and used a dotting tool with Call You Later to fill in the dots. I then went over those dots with Sinful Colors Flower Girl and topped my manicure with a coat of HKGIRL topcoat.

I'm honestly not too fond of this shade of green on me but I had a lot of fun trying new things with this manicure! This challenge is pushing me to try techniques and use colors that I haven't tried or used before and I'm really having a great time testing out my skills. A Sugar Rush Splatter

Hello Lacquer Lovers! Today's post features what was probably Walgreens' most anticipated collection for Spring. The Sugar Rush Collection by Sinful Colors contains 7 new pastel shades and 1 preexisting shade that are sure to send you on an eye candy high.

 My mani began with a base of Essie Feed Me followed by two coats of Sinful Colors Snow Me White. I used Unicorn, Cotton Candy, Sweet Tooth & Sugar Rush for the splatter. This look is achieved by dipping the end of a straw into a puddle of polish and blowing short quick puffs of air into the other end. HK Girl topcoat completed my manicure.

I really love how fun and easy these splatters are. The end results are always unique, too!

Above is a photo of a manicure using some of the Sugar Rush polishes. I applied 2 coats of Snow Me White and used a makeup sponge to create this gorgeous gradient with Cotton Candy, Sweet Tooth & Sugar Rush. The candies were stamped using my Konad Special white polish & a Bundle Monster image plate (BM306). The gradient for this mani made it so hard not to stare at my nails all day, I loved it!

5 Minute Mani

Hello Lacquer Luvers! I know I promised that the next post will be of swatches and my review for the Zoya Diva Collection. I am working on my swatches and photos today but in the meantime, I wanted to share a quick post of a 5 minute mani I created yesterday. I needed to come up with something quick so that I could go to lunch and do a little shopping for Gabrielle with my husband, Ty.

I began this mani with a base of Milani Smoothe Base Coat. Next I applied one coat of Sinful Colors Social Ladder to my ring fingers and then to the rest of my nails. The reason I painted my ring fingers first was because I wanted to stamp something on my accent nails and wanted it to be dry by the time the rest of my nails were painted.

I used my Konad Special Stamping Polish in white along with BM-318 for my accent fingers. If you don't know, hibiscus' are my favorite flowers and this image is so elegant it had to be the first one I used from their new set of plates! I topped this mani with a coat of Color Club's top coat and voila, this mani was done in 5 minutes!

Above is a photo of what I wore with this mani. I had on jeans and brown sandals to complete my outfit. The necklace I wore is a peacock feather that is brown, gold, and green. I wore a heart shaped nail polish ring that I created which was green. The ring was featured in my first blog post ever and you can click here if you'd like to see it. As you guys can see, my belly is getting pretty big! I am 35 weeks right now and my baby girl will be making her debut in 4 weeks. I can't believe how fast time has flown but I am so very excited to welcome her into the world and our beautiful family! Splattered Gradient

Hello Lacquer Luvers! I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! Mine was spent getting things ready for the arrival of Gabrielle. I cannot believe how fast time is flying and that we will have a beautiful baby girl in our home in about 6 weeks. I am so excited! Today I have a manicure to share with you all that features my all-time favorite color combination; pink, black an white. I love how it came out so let's get to it.

For this manicure I began with a base of Milani Smoothe Base Coat followed by two coats of KleanColor White. I applied two coats of Sinful Colors Pink to my ring and index fingers. Starting with a white base really makes a neon pop. This pink is so much brighter in person.

I used a makeup sponge and created gradients on my nails. On the nails that were white I used pink beginning at the tips of my nails and on the nails painted pink I used white at the tips. I repeated this process numerous times (about 3 or 4) to make the colors pop and become opaque. Next I used a straw and WetNWild Fast Dry polish in Everybody Hates Chris for the splatter. I used a straw from Miami Subs which is wider than the one I usually use from Dunkin Donuts. I think the width of the straw you use creates a different type of splatter which is pretty cool. This manicure was topped with a coat of top coat by Color Club.

If you haven't noticed, neons have been my thing this summer. I have always loved bright colors and playing with them in the middle of the summer is so much fun! I really like this color combination and the gradient that's under the splatter, too! I would love to know your thoughts on this manicure. Blue Water Marble for Autism Awareness

Hello Lacquer Luvers! I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. Yesterday it rained and rained and rained some more so we rented a few movies, cuddled up in the living room and had a really relaxing time. It was awesome! The sun is attempting to peek through today which is nice because my flower bed took a beating from those downpours. Today I have a blue water marble to share with you guys. Let's get on to it, shall we?

I began this manicure with a base of Essie Grow Faster. Once that dried, I applied two coats of Sinful Colors Cinderella as my base color for the marble. Usually I use my Jordana french polish because it is sheer and allows the base color to peek through. Today I used Bettina French 3 and Sinful Colors Midnight Blue.

I didn't realize that Bettina French 3 was so much more opaque than the Jordana french polish. So, as you can see, Cinderella did not peek through. That's okay, though, I think this marble still has plenty blue in it & it also reminded me of how much a learning process water marbling is.

Because I tried to repeat the same design on each nail for this manicure, I wanted to talk a little about repetitive behaviors and Autism. Repetition is a core symptom of ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and includes a variety of behaviors such as hand-flapping, rocking, jumping and twirling, arranging and rearranging objects, and repeating sounds, words, or phrases. My son has grown out of the hand-flapping and rocking, however, he still exhibits these other behaviors on a daily basis. I found this sentence on the Autism Speaks website to be extremely true in my household: "These extreme interests can prove all the more unusual for their content (e.g. fans, vacuum cleaners or toilets) or depth of knowledge (e.g. knowing and repeating astonishingly detailed information about Thomas the Tank Engine or astronomy)." Tyus can tell you who every single train is on Thomas and repeats what they say. The Thomas trains are his absolute favorite toys and he knows the names and functions of each and every one of them.

I want to try another blue water marble before the month finishes to share with you all. I hope you guys are enjoying all of my blue manicures. It's Pink Wednesday!!!

Hello Lacquer Luvers! It's the middle of the week and that means it's PINK WEDNESDAY! Today I have a post for you all with a color that I used in a water marble before. I'm using one of the polishes Ty gifted me for Valentine's Day, Sinful Colors Oasis. I hope you all are ready for a pretty pink mani =)

My mani today began with a base of Essie Grow Faster followed by two coats of Sinful Colors Oasis. Oasis is a vibrant shade of pink that has some purple shimmer throughout it which gives it some depth. This color is really pretty and you can't beat the fact that it's easy to find at Walgreens for $1.99, right? The formula is good, I got away with opaqueness at just two coats & I really like Sinful's brushes.

Next I applied one coat of this Prisma Luminous Color polish over Oasis. This lovely has no name and although I do not have it, I believe it may be a dupe (or close enough) to OPI's Teenage Dream. I got this in a pack of 7 at Ross for $5.99. It's a clear base with varying sizes of glitter that are pink, silver, and larger pieces of holographic glitter. This lovely is great for layering.

For nail art I went and stamped two different flower images on my nails from the first set of plates by Bundle Monster. I used BM06 on my pinky, middle, and thumb fingers & BM03 on my ring and index fingers using Konad Special Stamping Polish in white. I topped this mani off with a coat of Good To Go by Essie.

I think this mani is cute and appropriate for Spring. I realized after reading a few other blogs that I haven't done a first day of Spring mani. A Little Raspberry Jelly for Pink Wednesday!

Hello Lacquer Luvers & Happy Pink Wednesday to you! Today I have a special post because it includes two firsts for me. I have my first jelly sandwich mani to share with you all annnnd I made my first jelly franken! I'm so excited about this mani and love how it turned out so let's get to it!

My manicure today began with a base of Essie Grow Faster followed by three coats of Color Club Raspberry Rush. Raspberry Rush is a scented polish that is part of Color Club's Wicked Sweet Collection. I was fortunate enough to win this collection on Color Club's facebook page last summer during their Fourth of July nail art contest. Of the Wicked Sweet polishes I've tried thus far, this one is my favorite! It smells incredibly yummy! The application and formula was nice, too.

You can't have a jelly sandwich mani without some glitter, right? For those of you who don't know what a jelly sandwich manicure is, it's basically a layer of glitter with a jelly polish on top. For my glitter, I used Sinful Colors Pinky Glitter. Pinky Glitter is a sheer pink base full of iridescent glitters.

Next I layered two coats of my jelly franken which I named Raspberry Jelly over Pinky Glitter. I created this franken by filling up an empty nail polish bottle with 3/4 of WetNWild Fast Dry Topcoat and 1/4 of Color Club's Raspberry Rush. This jelly over Pinky Glitter gives it such a squishy look. I love, love, LOVE this! I topped my manicure off with Color Club's clear top coat.

I am really happy with how my first jelly sandwich mani came out and my first jelly franken. I can't wait to try more of these! So luvs, what do you all think of this manicure? Happy Pink (and blue) Wednesday Baby!

Hello Lacquer Luvers! I have a very exciting post for you all today! As most of you know, we are expecting our 2nd child in August. Yesterday we turned 16 weeks & today I have an appointment at the OBGYN where we will hopefully get to find out if we are having a baby boy or girl. I wanted to do a manicure that was appropriate for today's event & am excited to show it to you all!

I began my manicure today with a base of Essie Grow faster. On my pinky, middle finger, & thumb I used 2 coats of the lightest blue in my collection, Bettina Peppermint. I used 2 coats of Sinful Colors Beautiful Girl on my ring & index fingers. The application and formula on these were both very nice.

Once my base colors dried, I applied two coats of Revlon Whimsical to all of my nails. The blue sheer base of Whimsical didn't wash out the pink like I thought it might which was a nice surprise. I finished this manicure with a coat of Essie's Good To Go topcoat.

I love how the glitters pop off of these base colors! This mani, to me, is great for today. I really hope that Baby Hall isn't feeling shy today and let's us see know if he/she is a boy or girl! Either way, we are beyond excited to be welcoming the newest addition to our family and just wish that the baby is healthy! Cinderella's Glass Slipper Mani

Hello Lacquer Luvers! I hope you all are having a great weekend so far. I don't have plans today besides cleaning the house & washing clothes but tomorrow we are planning a trip to the beach. I cannot wait! I've been wanting to go for about a month or two now. Anywho, as promised yesterday, today's post features a newly released polish by Sinful Colors called Cinderella. The entire time I was doing this manicure I thought about my sister. Cinderella was her absolute favorite movie when we were kids. To this day, she still loves it & even has some Cinderella things around her house.

I began my manicure today with a base coat of Essie Grow Faster followed by three coats of Sinful Colors Cinderella. I would describe Cinderella as baby blue with pink glass flecks that shift to gold. It really does remind me of her beautiful ball gown. This polish has a sheer/milky quality which makes for 3-4 coats to reach full opacity. Next time I will layer this beauty over a light blue such as Bettina's Peppermint. I really liked the formula for this polish. It wasn't runny or thick & just sort of glides onto your nails. Dry time, however, was long because of the three coats I used.

Aren't the glass flecks in this stunning? It is just so beautiful to me and unlike any other blue polish I've seen before.

For nail art, I found the perfect image plate that went with the Cinderella theme! Bundle Monster's BM-213 plate has a high heel shoe design that reminded me of Cinderella's glass slipper. I used Konad Special Stamping Polish in white and stamped the image onto all of my nails. I finished this manicure with a coat of Essie's Good To Go topcoat.

Do I love this manicure? Yes, yes I do! I've always been a fan of Disney movies & this one allows me to relive some great times during my childhood. It made me miss my sister tons, too. Happy Pink Water Marble Wednesday!

Hello Lacquer Luvers & Happy Pink Wednesday to you all! I hope you all had a great Valentine's Day yesterday & if you didn't I hope today is a much better one for you =) I got the best gift ever from my husband, Ty. He did so good! Below is a picture of part 1 of my gift. He got me a dozen polishes!

I thought that was it (and totally more than I thought he would get me) but he came home with a part 2 which was lilac roses and chocolates. It really was a special day for me! Since today is Pink Wednesday, I used two of the pretties he got me yesterday for today's manicure. Let's get to it, shall we?

My mani today began with a base of Essie's Grow Faster followed by 3 coats of China Glaze Naked. Naked is a rosy pink that has pink and silver micro-shimmer in it. This shade was not as opaque as I would have liked so it took 3 coats to reach full opacity. However, application and formula was very smooth & dry time was average.

See the micro-shimmer, pretty isn't it? For nail art I wanted to do a water marble & thought that Sinful Colors Oasis would be a great choice since it was a darker shade of pink than Naked is. It also shares the same shimmer quality that Naked contains in that it has purple iridescent shimmer throughout it. I used Jordana's Barely Pink so that Naked would still peep through the sheerness of Barely Pink. This manicure was topped off with Essie's Good To Go topcoat.

I love how this came out! I think the two pinks work really nicely together. What do you think Lacquer Luvers? It's Pink Wednesday!

Hello Lacquer Luvers! Today is Pink Wednesday and I'm so happy about that because I get to take a break from the holiday mani's! Don't get me wrong, I love doing them but it's nice to do something different every now and then. So let me show you what I've done for today's Pink Wednesday manicure.

For my manicure today, I started off with a base of Nail Envy Maintenance by OPI. I chose Yum Gum by Color Club for my base color and applied two coats of it to reach full opacity. Yum Gum is from Color Club's Wicked Sweet Collection. This collection consists of 6 neon candy colored shades that are scented. I won this entire collection over the summer through a contest on Color Club's Facebook page. Yum Gum is a pretty neon pink (much brighter than my camera could capture) and the scent reminds me of the Bazooka Joe bubblegum I used to love as a kid. The formula was a bit on the thick side but very manageable.

I wanted to do a fun monotone manicure and used another pink polish for my design. Cream Pink by Sinful Colors is a bright pink polish. Contrary to the name, this isn't a cream at all. This lovely pink has golden shimmer throughout it that is really quite beautiful. I used this color on BundleMonster's image plate BM223 and stamped a zebra print on my nails. I used Color Club's clear top coat to finish this off.

I am totally loving this look! It has so many components of things I love: monotones, pink, and animal print. Love, Love! The one thing I am not liking is having to take this off so that I can do tomorrow's manicure. So ladies, is this a manicure you would wear? I know it may be a little loud for some but I'm one of those people that love bright colors. After all, I'm in SoFlo where color is king in this tropical paradise.
